My mom hack prevents kids from squishing their fingers in doors and accidental lock-ins – all you need is a pool staple
A MOTHER has shared her hack to prevent her children from squishing their fingers in doors and being locked in.
She showed viewers how simple it was in a TikTok video, and all you need is a swimming staple.
Young mother Megan Graves (@megan6feetunder) showcases all aspects of parenting online.
In a TikTok video, she shared a parenting win that helps keep kids safe and away from potential injuries.
When the video began, she stood next to an open bedroom door as her toddler walked toward her and abruptly closed the door.
Every time she kept trying to open it, her child kept shutting it.
The subtitle read at the bottom of the visual read: “Parenting tip #86. Pool noodles can be used during every season!”
She showed her trick by opening the door and applying a pool noodle to the edge of the door.
Pool noodles stop toddlers from closing the door and locking themselves in a room.
It was as if her child subconsciously knew what she did because they attempted to reach for the pool item and remove it.
Megan told them to close it, and when they tried, it was cushioned by the item.
“Winning!” she happily exclaimed right before the video ended.
“Never have to worry about squishing their finger either!” Megan wrote in the video caption.
She added that it also works great on closet doors as well.
Many people appreciated the parenting advice.
“Dude!!!! My daughter just learned how to close doors!!!! Thank you!!!!” a fan praised.
“No, this is so smart to save the little fingers tho,” another added.
“This is actually genius because it prevents her hand from getting slammed by the door and it also prevents her from closing the door,” a TikTok user chimed in.
“This is really smart! My sister when she was a toddler locked herself inside the room on the second floor. This would have been useful,” a viewer shared.
