My quick tip fixes a hole in your wall in seconds – people think I must be joking but I say if it works, it works
TACKLING home repairs is no easy task, which is why many of us procrastinate hitting those to-dos for so long.
But one group of professional decorators said when it comes to fixing holes in walls, they’ve got you covered with an easy hack.
Masterminds behind the company Decorators Forum UK (@decoratorsforumuk) came up with a genius way to patch up a hole in wall.
Pointing at a medium sized cavity in a white wall, one of the decorators said he was ready to fix it.
“Just wanted to show you this quick tip – how to fix a hole in the wall in seconds,” the man said in the clip.
He began by using a rolling brush dipped in paint emulsion to paint over and around the hole.
Next, he grabbed a piece of regular white printer paper and stuck in right over the hole, using the paint as an adhesive.
He then simply dipped the roller back in the paint and began to roll over the paper so that it would become the same color as the wall around it.
“If you were to use filler over that, it would take hours to dry.”
His method, on the other hand, takes less than a minute and is almost impossible to detect.
“I know it isn’t the ‘perfect fix,’ but as a decorator, I know that this is fine on most jobs,” he wrote in the caption.
Some viewers couldn’t believe the simple trick was actually used by anyone.
“This has got to be a joke,” one wrote.
“Just don’t poke it with your finger,” laughed another.
“Well that’s a paper thin wall,” a third quipped.
But others said they’ve seen it in rental homes before.
“This is what we call, ‘The landlord special,’” one chimed in.
