Trump claims Biden put the legal system 'under siege' because his lawyers are in trouble

Former President Donald Trump took to his Truth Social platform on Wednesday in an all-caps rant to claim that President Joe Biden has placed the entire legal system "under siege."

"FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THE HISTORY OF THE USA, LAWYERS, AND THE LEGAL SYSTEM ITSELF, ARE UNDER SIEGE…ALL A GIFT FROM CROOKED JOE BIDEN, MERRICK GARLAND, AND DERANGED PROSECUTOR, JACK SMITH!!!" Trump posted.

In a second post, he added, "THE DEMOCRAT PROSECUTORS WAITED YEARS TO BRING CHARGES SO THAT THEY COULD INTERFERE WITH THE 2024 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION. THEY ARE GETTING, HOWEVER, BIG BLOWBACK!!!"

It's unclear exactly what Trump is referring to. However, a number of lawyers who are either allied with or have done work for Trump in the past are under investigation as part of the same election interference probe he is under. John Eastman, who drafted a memo outlining an illegal plot to have former Vice President Mike Pence throw out state electors, and Rudy Giuliani, who pushed conspiracy theories about the election being stolen both on TV and to state officials, have faced disciplinary hearings that could lead to their disbarment.

This comes after Trump proclaimed earlier in the day that "Any attorney that represents me is either a fool or a Great American Patriot."

Trump has long struggled to retain consistent legal counsel, as many attorneys who work for him end up getting stiffed out of their legal fees or, occasionally, convicted of crimes.
