Proposed legislation to reserve three seats in the legislative assembly of Jammu and Kashmir for Kashmiri migrants and refugees from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir has been opposed by regional political parties. The parties said that the central government's amendment to the J&K Reorganisation Act for the reservation, in the absence of an elected government and assembly in J&K, overrode the constitutional and democratic rights of the people.
