Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi has filed the no-confidence motion against the Government in Lok Sabha along with BRS MP Nama Nageswara Rao. Although the motion is highly unlikely to succeed due to the government's majority, it is viewed as a strategy to make the prime minister address the Manipur violence incident during the parliamentary debate, rather than Union Home Minister Amit Shah responding on behalf of the government. The Congress has also issued a whip for its members to attend meetings to discuss the issue.
