As of April 1, 2021, there were 19,233 complaints and appeals pending with the Central Information Commission (CIC), according to the Union Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh. The transparency watchdog had a vacancy of four Information Commissioners against the sanctioned strength of ten, resulting in delays in disposing of complaints.
