‘Suicide Attack’ Kills Police in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
A police officer has been killed, and several others have been injured in what is described as a “suicide blast” in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
The explosion occurred in a mosque in the Jamrud area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Khyber while the cops detained an associate of the suicide bomber, Dawn reported.
According to the police, the deceased police officer was identified as Adnan Afridi, and the injured people were taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
It was found that the district Khyber Police had conducted an intelligence-based operation in response to information that two terrorists were present in the mosque in Jamrud. While the other terrorist escaped from the explosion scene, one of the terrorists detonated himself when the police attempted to apprehend him.
However, according to the report, the security forces successfully arrested the escaped terrorist.
Recently, the militants have increased their attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, targeting police officers and government officials.
According to The Dawn, there were 665 terror attacks in the province between June 18, 2022, and June 18, 2023, including 15 suicide bombings.
According to the list of “Motive Wise Terrorism Incidents” released by the provincial police, 140 terror operations, including eight suicide bombings, 37 IED and three hand grenade blasts, five rocket assaults, and 85 fire incidents, were reported in North Waziristan tribal district alone.
The Dera Ismail Khan district had 81 terror attacks, according to the Dawn, including 70 shooting incidents, seven IED blasts, two grenade explosions, one suicide attack, and one rocket attack.
