Police seek two men in connection with fatal shooting at Waterbury social club
Two men are wanted on arrest warrants in connection with a fatal shooting at a social club in Waterbury on July 16, police said.
Investigators have identified 29-year-old Joshua Morales of Waterbury as a suspect in the homicide and obtained an arrest warrant charging him with murder, first-degree assault and various firearm-related offenses, the Waterbury Police Department said in a statement Wednesday. Morales has a court-set bond of $3 million.
There is also an active arrest warrant for 34-year-old Andrew Dennis of Waterbury, the owner of the Bunker Social Club at 437 Watertown Ave. where the homicide occurred, according to police. The warrant charges Dennis with second-degree reckless endangerment and operation of an unlicensed bar. There is currently no court-set bond for Dennis.
Officers were on patrol around 4 a.m. on July 16 in the area of Watertown Avenue and learned that a large crowd was gathered outside of the Bunker Social Club, police said. As officers arrived, they located an adult man, later identified as 40-year-old Gregory Robertson of Fredericksburg, Virginia, inside the social club with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene, police said.
Additionally, officers learned two additional gunshot victims arrived at Saint Mary’s Hospital believed to be part of the same incident, according to police. The additional victims were identified as adult men.
Investigators arrested a suspect, identified as 34-year-old German Pena-Lopez of Waterbury, in connection with the incident on July 18. He is charged with illegal possession of weapons in a motor vehicle, carrying a pistol without a permit, first-degree threatening and illegal transfer sale of a firearm, according to police. He was being held on a $1 million bond pending his court arraignment.
