Mild memory loss, often termed Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), is a stage between the expected cognitive decline of normal aging and the more serious decline of dementia. It involves problems with memory, language, thinking, or judgment that are greater than the changes typical with aging.
People with MCI, particularly MCI involving memory problems, are more likely to develop Alzheimer's disease or other dementias than people without MCI. However, MCI doesn't always lead to dementia. In some cases, MCI remains stable or even resolves.
