Seated on a cot in the courtyard of her squalid two-room home built on a 10-marla plot in Sidhwan Bet village of Ludhiana district, a 50-year-old woman hides her phone in the pocket of her white-coloured undershirt, worn under her kameez, as her son exits the house's only outhouse where he has just injected a dose of chitta (heroin). "If he sees it, he will steal my phone too," she says.
