Usman Khawaja Fumes As Australia Docked 10 WTC Points For Slow Over Rate In Fourth Ashes Test

USMAN Khawaja has blasted the ICC for penalizing Australia for a slow over-rate in the fourth Test. Notably, the Australian cricket team has been docked 10 WTC points for a slow over-rate in Manchester. Khawaja was baffled by the fact that the team was fined despite Australia not getting a chance to bowl in the second innings.

As per the revised provisions, the players are fined five percent of the match fee and the team is docked one point for every over short. The Ben Stokes-led side was also fined a 25 percent match fee and docked five WTC points for slow over-rate in the fourth Test. The England cricket team was also docked nine WTC points for slow over-rate in the second Test and two WTC points for the same in the first Test.

Pakistan Leading The WTC Points Table

Pakistan are leading the World Test Championship points table after their 2-0 win over Sri Lanka earlier this month. The Indian cricket team is second on the list with 66.67 PCT. Notably, the second Test against West Indies ended as a draw due to rain which brought down India’s PCT. Australia and England played out a 2-2 draw in the five-match Ashes series and are third and fifth on the list.

Usman Khawaja Ends Ashes As Leading Run Scorer

Usman Khawaja enjoyed a terrific run in the Ashes 2023, ending the series as the leading run scorer with 496 runs in five games. The Ashes 2023 was one of the most closely fought series in recent times. Australia took a 2-0 lead in the series but England bounced back well to level the series. The Three Lions were very close to winning the Manchester Test but rain allowed Australia to escape defeat.
