Review: Lainey Wilson delights fans at CT’s Mohegan Sun Arena
American country music singer-songwriter Lainey Wilson, who starting at a very early age, has turned into a serious music performer.
In 2011, she moved from Baskin, Louisiana, to Nashville, Tennessee, to pursue a career as a country performer. In 2014, she released her first album, followed by a second in 2016 and in 2019, she released her third album, Redneck Hollywood, which included her hit song “Things a Man Oughta Know.”
In 2020, it was issued as a single and eventually reached No. 1 on the American country songs chart.
Referring to herself as “Bell Bottom Country”, Lainey has swiftly catapulted herself to the top.
As early as November, 2022, she was the “warm-up” performer for Luke Combs at Mohegan Sun Arena. This past weekend, Lainey’s musical vibes echoed through the arena as the headliner.
She made it … and vigorously and enthusiastically performed as is if she deserved it. By the response of the sold-out crowd, she underscored her prominence, by her fans, as a true Country Music performer.
Lainey performed a number of her songs including: Hold My Halo, Hillbilly Hippie, Smell Like Smoke, Watermelon Moonshine, Atta Girl, Those Boots (Daddy’s Song), Rolling Stone, Wait in the Truck / Heart Like a Truck and Things a, her best hit to date, Man Oughta Know, which she sang during her encore.
What was most entertaining about this show were the parents who were accompanied by scores of children who were dressed like Lainey… right down to their bell bottoms. The audience demographics was abundantly female, which may lead one to believe that this lady relates to a group that wishes to follow a lady who makes her fans appreciate a fun, positive, enthusiastic performer who just seems to get noticed in all the best ways. No looking back for this lady.
