The Chase’s Bradley Walsh admits he’s battling ‘seriously bad’ health condition after being grilled about appearance
BRADLEY Walsh opened up about his ‘seriously bad’ health condition that effects him everyday, after being questioned about his appearance.
The Chase presenter, 63, was candid about his health struggles in a interview with GB News host, Eamonn Holmes.
The former Corrie star revealed he suffers with an eye condition called blepharitis.
It causes swollen, itchy eyelids and often results in the sufferer’s eyes being completely stuck together when they wake in the morning.
He explained: “People don’t realise I have seriously bad blepharitis. I have to take one pill a day for it or I really struggle.
“I am going to need my eyes operated on at some point to sort it out.
“So many times, people have commented on how I look. But they don’t realise. If I take medication though, I’m fine.”
On a more positive note, Bradley said he felt “lucky’ after managing to get his cholesterol levels down, after doctors warned him of the “silent killer.”
Bradley said: “I was a time bomb. I was quite lucky in regards to the calcium test but my doctor said I produce too much cholesterol.
“It’s a silent killer. I thought, ‘Oh crikey, I’m gonna be bang in trouble here if I don’t lose the weight and start dealing with this’.”
This comes after Bradley shocked fans by admitting his first ever job was a professional footballer before finding fame.
At the age of 18, he was signed up by Brentford, mainly featuring on the reserves team before being loaned out to Barnet.
He made five appearances in the Southern Football League from 1979 to 1980, and also played for Tring Town, Boreham Wood and Chalfont St Peter.
But major injuries meant he had to say goodbye to his football career, after he broke both of his ankles.
Luckily, Bradley had another talent in TV and has fronted many TV shows, including Wheel of Fortune, Odd One In, Blankety Blank, Keep It In The Family and The Chase and more.
He even dabbled in acting as he has appeared on the ITV soap Coronation Street, BBC’s Doctor Who and Law & Order: UK.
The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
