THIS is the terrifying moment a cow toppled off a lorry straight into 70mph motorway traffic.
The shocking clip was filmed on a stretch of the M6 in the North West yesterday morning.
It is understood that the animal was being transported on the truck when it broke free and nearly collided with oncoming vehicles.
Another cow then fell off two miles later, cops confirmed.
The livestock on the loose resulted in severe delays as the route was closed for 90 minutes between junctions seven and ten.
Officers from the Central Motorway Police Group (CMPG) confirmed on Twitter that the cows were “injured” and that the road was closed in both directions while they were moved off safely.
The force added: “Last thing we want is for them to bolt into moving traffic.”
Fortunately, the animals were herded out of harm’s way, with help from some lorry drivers present at the scene.
Kevin Rogers, 52, who recorded the footage of the cows falling off their trailer, told MailOnline: “The cow fell out the bottom of the lorry, the lorry next to it moved and I moved out the way.
“I was the first car coming head-on to it and I managed to miss it.
“I think the floor gave way on the bottom and when [the lorry] pulled over another cow came out.
“You don’t see that every day.”
Cops also thanked Whitewell Logistics Ltd, who helped move the cows from the scene.
A spokesperson for the company added: “We acted quickly and swiftly to deal with the situation.
“Everyone was asked to stay in their cars while we moved the animals.
“To the best of my knowledge, they are fine. They did not suffer any long-term injuries. We returned the cows to a location arranged by the police.”
