The New York-based company said it had net income of 39 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for investment costs, were 44 cents per share.

The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 43 cents per share.

The investment company posted revenue of $68.6 million in the period, also topping Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $67.7 million.
