Cool Down Lap with Candice, July 29, 2023

Here is the latest from Antioch Speedway. We had quite a night with almost 100 cars in the pits. The crowd even had a bump. Although we had the Hunt Series Sprints, I think the Figure 8 is also a big reason for the bump. Fans like the excitement that it brings.
The upside was the increase in the numbers, but the downside is that we were still dealing with dry and dusty conditions. The hardcore among the fans don’t really mind if there’s a little dust. The casual fans, on the other hand, aren’t as easy to impress. They’ll go do something else. Some days it just gets away from us, and it was a bit windy.
The night also included backpack giveaways with school supplies from the Hunt Series and the Figure 8 drivers gave free pedal cars to the kids. We had a lot going on, and this one ran a little bit later than usual. We still got it in and did our best to send the crowd home happy. That’s the goal. We have things to improve upon, but we’re still keeping it going.
Next up is Fan Appreciation Night, and I want to emphasize that a little bit more. It’s about getting people to come out here with a greatly reduced ticket price. $5 gets you in and your kid could leave with a bike and some Hot Wheels.
Live music will be happening and I’m not even sure what else. Lots of promotions going on and six divisions. We’ve even got some special awards for the Main Event winners.
That was Ron Brown’s thinking when he pushed for this. He got other people to sponsor so that we could do the $5 ticket price. Time will tell, but I think we’re on the right path. Hopefully we get a good crowd and get people wanting to keep coming back.
