New issue of Sailing Today with Yachts & Yachting out now
It’s a packed issue of Sailing Today with Yachts & Yachting that comes out today in the UK, with two major boat tests of the new Dufour and new Arcona, as well as a review of all the main yacht and multihull launches of the last year and those to come. If you’re in the market or if you just love browsing, it’s essential reading. Our new September issue reviews the Round the Island Race and The Ocean Race and meanwhile we have tons of Med cruising including the 10 best Sardinian anchorages, plus we get the inside track on the latest in mainsail furling.
Full boat test: French manufacturer Dufour Yachts has taken the idea of maximising internal volume to what seems like its natural conclusion with its new 41 as Sam Jefferson finds out.
Full boat test: the Arcona 345 is a 34ft fast cruiser that is elegant, seaworthy and supremely fun. Strangely enough, that is becoming a rare breed in this size range.
Mainsail furling – it used to be the case that in mast furling was a bit of a liability. Those days are long gone. Sam Fortescue takes a look at the latest innovations and options out there
Best boats for 2024 – it has been another bumper year for the boatbuilding industry. Sam Jefferson casts his eye over the latest launches in the last calendar year.
The top 10 anchorages in La Maddalena, Sardinia as chosen by users of the Navily app.
Few know the Aegean Sea better than Rod Heikell, who provides a masterclass on what to see and where to sail.
A Scilly idea? Will Rogers heads to the Isles of Scilly with his young family in their small trimaran. Including tips for cruising with little’uns.
It was a breezy day on 1 July as photojournalist Tam Preston joined the crew of Swan 62 Coco de Mer and more than 1,100 other boats in the Island Sailing Club’s annual Round the Island Race. Tam’s photo diary of her day gives a real taste of the event.
“It really is a great handicap for a sailor to be as tall as me, although 6ft 1in is not massive, but how many times over the years have I wished I was not much more than knee high to a grasshopper. Body length is the reason that every time we have bought a new boat, before making an offer, the first thing I do is go and stretch out on all the bunks,” writes our columnist Paul Heiney this month. Paul’s column continues in characteristic dry humour.
Literary cruising in the Ionian – Tom Fletcher has a book in one hand and a winch handle in the other and he follows in the footsteps of some literary titans including Durrell and Homer.
Charter insight: boatshare, fractional, or charter ownership schemes could be the way forward to enjoy boating on demand without all the hassle of outright yacht ownership says Sue Pelling.
