INSTA-PANELS PRESENTS MEMORIAL NIGHT AUGUST 4 AT OHSWEKEN
OHSWEKEN, Ont. (August 3, 2023) – The 26th season of racing at Ohsweken Speedway continues Friday, August 4 when Insta-Panels presents Memorial Night. The racing card features the Noelle Teal Memorial Twin 14’s for the Strickland’s Crate Sprint Cars, the Brock Leonard Memorial 50 for the Middleport Mechanical Thunder Stocks, the Art Hill Memorial 42 for the HRW Automotive Mini Stocks, plus a special race called “Noah’s Dash” which will incorporate all three divisions.
The Noelle Teal Memorial Twin 14’s will be run for the first time in memory of the Crate Sprint Car and Micro Sprint driver who was lost in a highway accident last year at just 20 years of age. The event will pay $2,000-to-win and $300-to-start thanks to the Teal Family, Gale’s Auto Aftermarket, Corr/Pak Merchandising, and Ackland Insurance.
The Brock Leonard Memorial 50 is run in memory of the track official and father of current Ohsweken Speedway Race Director Doug Leonard. Justin Ramsay has won the last two editions of the race, while other past winners include Christopher Hale, Ryan Beagle, Ryan Dinning, Karl Sault, Lee Winger, Ryan Turner and Brad Herron; only Ramsay has won it multiple times.
The Art Hill Memorial 42 is run in honour of Art Hill, who suffered a fatal brain aneurysm while competing in his No. 42 machine at Ohsweken in 1999. Jeremy Hughes won the 2022 edition of the race, while other past winners include include Tyler Lafantaisie, Jason Tolton, Nick Masi, Jake Bazuin, Mark Bazuin, Mike Taylor, Karl Sault, Abel Castelein, Trevor Goulding, Mitch Brown, Dave Bailey, Marc Hallett, Rick Emberson, Robbie Rounce, Lee Winger, Doug Erskine, and Jim Swing.
Noah’s Dash will feature a fun and exciting Dash for Cash, bringing together the three different classes in a head-to-head race for bragging rights and – most importantly – celebrating the life of the late Noah Thomas. The race will pit Mini Stocks (6 laps), Thunder Stocks (7 laps), and Crate Sprints (8 laps) against each other on the track at the same time, creating an electrifying competition for both racers and spectators.
Race time is 7:30PM. Adult grandstand admission is $20, while Senior (65+) and Youth (13-17) admission is $15, and Kids (0-12) are FREE. Please visit www.ohswekenspeedway.ca for more information.
