A parliamentary panel has advised a review of Civil Services Exam recruitment procedures due to concerns over a higher number of engineers being selected as civil servants. The standing committee voiced worries that the country is "losing" exceptional engineers and doctors due to this trend. Data shows the percentage of candidates with engineering backgrounds has surged from 46% in 2011 to 65% in 2020.
