KL Rahul Fit To Play In Asia Cup 2023: Report
INDIA wicketkeeper batter KL Rahul who was on the road to recovery looks set to return to international cricket after gaining full fitness. The wicketkeeper batter got injured while playing in the Indian Premier League 2023 match against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
On May 1, Rahul got injured during his team Lucknow Super Giants’ match against Royal Challengers Bangalore, quickly clutching his right thigh and then limping from the field while chasing the ball to stop a boundary in the second over. He came out to bat at number eleven, unable to run and score a run off three balls he faced as Lucknow lost by 18 runs.
In the last few days, the wicketkeeper batter was spotted playing in the nets.
KL Rahul is now “completely fit and available for selection,” and could return to Team India for the Asia Cup 2023″ reported TOI.
“The coaches and medical experts at the BCCI’s National Cricket Academy in Bangalore are satisfied with Rahul’s progress/recovery. He will be available for selection for the Asia Cup,” reports further added.
Asia Cup 2023 will start from August 30 to September 13 and will be played in Sri Lanka and Pakistan. Where India will play their opener clash against arch-rivals Pakistan on September 2 at at Pallekele.
Whereas batter Shreyas Iyer likely to be unavailable for the Asia Cup as the batter is not yet fit to play still owing to a back problem that is persisting despite a surgery.
However, team India is currently busy five match T20I series against West Indies where Men in Blue lost the first game and after finishing this series the sqaud will play 3 T20Is against Ireland where Jasprit Bumrah will likely to be seen in action as the pacer has made his international comeback after alomst an year.
