India, Kazakhstan hold key security dialogue, discuss Afghanistan
India and Kazakhstan convened the fourth Security Dialogue and discussed bilateral and regional issues in Astana on Thursday.
Deputy National Security Advisor of India Vikram Misri and Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of Kazakhstan Nurzhan Kajiakbarov presided over the meeting, which covered a range of bilateral and international topics with a particular emphasis on the evolving situation in Afghanistan, a statement said.
Both delegations discussed measures to combat the threat of terrorism and counter-radicalization activities due to the current developments in Afghanistan, which pose substantial security threats in the region.
Meanwhile, the two sides embraced their converging ideas and agreed to cooperate to improve bilateral security cooperation after realizing their shared interests in regional stability.
According to the statement, counterterrorism, drug control, cyber security, and defence cooperation were among the major issues of shared concern brought up in the dialogue.
The Fourth India-Kazakhstan Security Dialogue demonstrated a resolve to jointly address new security concerns while reiterating the strength of their bilateral relationship.
The bilateral strategic partnership between the two countries was strengthened by the Indian delegation’s visits to facilities of significance in addition to the diplomatic engagements.
