‘Serious’ crash shuts down M62 all morning

A section of the M62 has been closed near a West Yorkshire town following a serious crash.

The motorway was closed in both directions between junctions 25 and 26 at Brighouse for several hours this morning.

It reopened eastbound at around 8am, but remains closed westbound.

West Yorkshire Police said drivers should expect the disruption to last for a significant amount of time.

No information was given on the nature of the crash, the number of vehicles involved or whether any people have been injured.

A statement from the force released this morning said: ‘The M62 is currently closed in both directions between junctions 25 and 26 following a serious collision.

‘The closure is expected to be in place for some time and motorists are urged to seek alternative routes.

‘Further updates will be issued in due course.’
