India's Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, has laid the foundation stone for a scheme to redevelop 508 train stations with a cost exceeding Rs 244.7 bn , including 55 each in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, 49 in Bihar, 44 in Maharashtra, among others. They aim to be developed as city centres where business activity can take place seamlessly, offering modern passenger amenities and well-designed traffic circulation.
