Real reason Lostprophets paedophile Ian Watkins was taken hostage and stabbed in prison
PAEDOPHILE rocker Ian Watkins was stabbed in his prison cell in a row over guitar lessons, The Sun can reveal.
The former Lostprophets frontman, 46, was stable in hospital earlier tonight after being knifed in the neck during a six-hour jail siege.
Two of his three attackers were murderers, visitors to HMP Wakefield, West Yorks, said.
A source added: “He was known to have hangers-on who asked him about music and being a rock star.
“He even gave some of them guitar lessons — which made other inmates in there angry so they wanted revenge.
“He is also high-profile and a lot of the lads in there think they will get a move to another jail if they attack someone well-known.
“They want to be shifted out of Wakefield, although it does not usually work like that.”
Jealousy over his younger girlfriend, who visited him regularly, was also said to be a factor.
Watkins was jailed for 35 years in 2013 for 13 offences against children.
In 2014, he was refused the right to appeal against his 35-year sentence.
Lord Justice Christopher Pitchford said his offences were of “such shocking depravity” that the long sentence was called for.
The Prison Service declined to comment earlier today while police were investigating.
