BBC Breakfast duo announce they’re ‘taking break’ from hosting together
THE BBC Breakfast co-stars have revealed they’re “taking a break” from presenting together.
It appears the duo will now be hosting BBC 5 Live separately.
Rick Edwards, 44 and Rachel Burden, 48 were announced as the new hosts of the popular show back in September 2021.
But now, Rachel has announced that she will be “taking a break” from Rick after returning to BBC Breakfast to co-host with Ben Thompson.
Taking to Twitter, Rachel told her followers: “We’re on a break for a few weeks (holidays/other work stuff), so enjoy the rest of the summer – we’ll be back together in September,” while tagging Rick in the snap.
Fans reacted quickly to the news that the duo was “taking a break” from each other.
One fan wrote: “No way! A break? How comes?
A second penned: “How will you cope until September.”
A third asked: “Are you guys actually going on a break?
A fourth joked: “Remember when Rachel and Ross went on a break.”
“For clarity – a break from each other (unrelated to lava lamps”),” Rachel quickly explained.
“One of us should be in the @bbc5live studios at least throughout the summer,” Rick wrote, “*related to lava lamps.”
It comes after a funny on-air spat between the two as they attempted to make their own lava lamps, during which an irritated Rick yelled at Rachel for doing it better than him.
