Five explosive ITV Emmerdale theories: new death in the village, shock return and dark crime twist
COLIN Hamston is back with a vengeance this week as he’s determined to make Laurel Thomas pay for taking his son from him.
Her new husband Jai Sharma takes desperate action to save her. Get the lowdown on all the upcoming Emmerdale drama.
1. Death in the Dales
Laurel Thomas is in massive danger this week.
The beloved character played by Charlotte Bellamy stood between Marshall and his abusive, homophobic father Colin (Mark Noble).
Upon finding out that Marshall was being brutalised by his father, Laurel decided to take the lad into her home with Jai Sharma and their children.
But in recent scenes aired on ITV, the family had to wave goodbye to Marshall as he was reunited with his aunt.
Unfortunately for Laurel, who should be celebrating her marriage with Jai, Colin isn’t ready to let things go and, instead, he decides to finally get his revenge.
Coming up, emotions run high this week as Laurel and Jai’s (Chris Bisson) plan to leave for India following Rishi’s sudden death.
But these plans are jeopardised by a distraught Archie.
Chaos ensues when Laurel reveals Archie’s illness, leading Jai to explode in anger.
The house soon becomes a battlefield and Laurel’s attempts to calm him prove futile, leaving him even more upset.
Soon Jai’s solo journey to India begins, while Laurel contemplates her guilt at home and receives a warning from Suni.
Determined to support Jai, Laurel decides to join Jai in India.
But when she goes to retrieve Marshall’s passport, Colin turns nasty and locks her in the young boy’s bedroom.
Terrified and scared and without her phone Laurel is trapped and needs to find a way to free herself from Colin’s grip.
Suni Sharma (Brahmdeo Shannon Ramana) and Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler) worry they haven’t heard from Laurel.
Suni’s suggestion to message Jai and find out is shut down by Nicola, who thinks they might need some space.
But Jai, Nicola and Suni are all very concerned about her absence and Arthur (Alfie Clarke) reveals Laurel was meant to pick up Marshall’s passport from Colin’s.
In the house, an unstable Colin forces Laurel to unlock her phone and he texts Jai in a way which implies she has relapsed.
With so much at stake and an overwhelmed Jai following his father’s passing, could the ordeal escalate into a shocking death?
Could Laurel be killed off?
Will Jai retaliate in a murderous fashion?
2. Murder twist
Speaking of Rishi, viewers of the Yorkshire-based drama have been wondering if there is more than meets the eye to his death.
The beloved character was found at the bottom of his staircase as he was getting ready to attend Jai and Laurel’s wedding despite his grievances with his adoptive son.
And while he suffered from several health issues in the past, many soap fans are expecting the revelation that he was murdered.
Viewers shared their theories on Twitter: “Rishi was pushed I’ll put money on it”, one of them commented.
“Bet jai pushed Rishi down the stairs”, a second viewer theorised.
“Last one of the week and it’s tragic poor Rishi how dare Emmerdale kill him off…(he was pushed by Suni)”, another jumped in.
“Could there be a twist and Rishi was pushed down the stairs. Definitely wasn’t Jai, but who else had a motive”, a fourth speculated.
Another social media user jumped in: “I’m thinking it’s Suni if there was a twist, he’s just come back and is acting all nice, he may have been sent by his dad as he knows that Jai was really his?!”
Could they be on to something?
3. Big return amid tragedy
Dan Spencer’s GBH ordeal takes another turn as he and his daughter Amelia become increasingly terrified of the future.
Amelia Spencer (portrayed by Daisy Campbell) was looking forward to help her father Dan (Liam Fox) financially by working on her social media presence.
But things took a horrific turn when a man named Lloyd (Matt Sutton) rocked up the village to meet her.
Determined to protect her, Dan got the police involved but ultimately punched Lloyd and left him in a critical condition.
As Lloyd’s life hangs by a thread, Dan faces prison for GBH and is hopeful to avoid a potential murder charge.
Things keep going downhill for the family and Amelia is also worried for her own daughter Esther’s future.
Despite this, Dan does whatever he can next week to plan for her future – but Amelia is convinced they should simply skip town.
Dan protests at her plan to go on the run, but Amelia is insistent they can escape to Ireland in order to stay as a family.
The following day, Amelia is stressed about losing her dad to prison and almost accidentally hurts Esther.
When Dan saves them at the last second, both are scared to know they will be losing each other soon.
Seeing his daughter’s fear and being overwhelmingly scared of prison, Dan comes round to the idea of running away.
A desperate Dan corners Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley), who knows how to help somebody go on the run, and asks for his help.
Cain agrees and soon enough, Dan confirms to Amelia their escape plan will go ahead but reminds her she cannot tell anyone, not even her boyfriend Noah Dingle.
Amelia’s scared but determined to do this with her father.
Later, Cain presents Dan and Amelia with ferry tickets, an old car and a burner phone for their escape to Ireland.
Will they really go through with it?
This remains to be seen but with Amelia struggling to find her footing in the aftermath of Lloyd’s assault, actress Daisy Campbell has affirmed she’ll be receiving support from Noah and Mandy Dingle.
Viewers, on the other hand, are expecting Laura Norton to return to the village as Kerry Wyatt for her benefit.
“I think Amelia would love that”, Daisy Campbell said about Kerry’s potential comeback.
“They’ve been so close for years even though Dan and Kerry aren’t together any more and she didn’t really see much of her. It would be lovely to have Kerry back to support Amelia because she’s like a second mum and I think Amelia would feel a lot more comforted if she was there. That would be nice.”
Laura Norton left to go on maternity leave in late 2022, in the wake of Al Chapman’s on-screen death but her upcoming return was confirmed.
Could Kerry be left to pick up the pieces after Dan’s legal turmoil?

4. Shock murder charge
As mentioned above, Dan and Amelia are planning to leave the eponymous village to go on the run with Esther in tow.
But whether they will go through with it remains to be seen as Dan is known to be mostly sticking to the straight and narrow.
Meanwhile, Lloyd remains unconscious in hospital and his wife Julie (Emma Stansfield) is growing desperate to see him wake up.
Sadly, many fans are expecting Lloyd to draw his last breath in upcoming scenes of the Yorkshire-based soap, changing Dan’s GBH charge into a murder charge.
Will Dan face the music if this is the case?
5. Villager involved in huge crime
Meanwhile, money has been an issue of concern for newlywedded couple Tracy and Nate Robinson.
But as a result, the hunk played by Jurell Carter lands in trouble after accepting a job offer from Caleb Milligan.
Desperate to make some extra cash and be at the helm of her own business, Tracy considered an offer from Caleb Milligan (Will Ash) before Nate became embroiled in his schemes.
Coming up, Caleb hands Nate over to Corey for his training and Corey promises there are ways to make extra cash on the side.
When client Harry arrives, he’s impressed by Nate and before long the family man returns with a big tip and is happy to confirm to Corey that Caleb doesn’t have to know.
The following day, Caleb, who suspects Corey is up to something dodgy, asks Nate to keep an eye on him.
And after a bit of probing Nate soon discovers Corey’s deal with Harry isn’t completely legitimate but agrees to keep it quiet for the extra cash.
Later on, hopeful for a payrise, Nate lies to Caleb how Corey isn’t doing anything untoward.
However, in the Woolpack, Nate warns Corey of Caleb’s suspicions in an attempt to get out of a dodgy job with Harry.
But Corey threatens getting on the wrong side of Harry would be even worse for them.
Meanwhile, Tracy (Amy Walsh) is pleased Nate is seemingly doing so well at work.
Will Nate be able to get out of this dodgy double dealing?
Viewers aren’t very optimistic and, in fact, they are convinced Nate will get involve in a huge crime plot that could bring him a one-way ticket to prison.
“I see a ‘Nate involved in a crime’ plot coming up”, one fan tweeted as another agreed: “Nate going to go on the rob soon I reckon.”
Could they be right?
