Report: Tottenham reject Bayern Munich’s latest bid for Harry Kane
The Athletic have reported that Tottenham Hotspur have rejected Bayern Munich’s latest offer for Harry Kane this summer, just days before the Premier League season kicks off.
The report claims that Spurs and Bayern held talks in London last week, but the German remained £25m short of Harry Kane’s valuation.
The Bundesliga giants bid €70m plus add-ons for the England captain in June, then increased the offer in July, but both were rejected by Spurs. Now a third bid has been turned away by Daniel Levy and co.
Tottenham still hope Kane will stay in North London
It is said that Bayern had a transfer meeting scheduled for today anyway, and this update will be on the agenda for discussions.
Tottenham, meanwhile, still hold out hope of convincing Kane to extend his stay in North London, as he enters the final 12 months of his Lilywhite contract.
The striker netted four goals in the pre-season friendly against Shakhtar Donetsk yesterday, and Spurs will be hoping he is part of the squad to face Barcelona in Spain tomorrow.
Postecoglou said after the 5-1 win over Shakhtar (Football.London): “From my perspective, I don’t know what deadlines means. We know there’s one deadline and that’s the end of the transfer window. Beyond that, I’m in open dialogue with Harry and with the club on a regular basis.
“I’ve said to them that if the status quo changes then inform me. I don’t need to know about the comings and goings in between. I just want to deal with what’s in front of me because I’ve got to still, irrespective of the outcome of that, I’m building a team here.
“I can’t wait [around] for a decision either way to get going. We don’t have the time or the luxury to do that. I’m working with what’s in front of me. You saw today that Harry certainly is invested in what we’re doing and we’ll keep on doing that unless something changes.”
Spurs Web Opinion:
You would expect it to be very difficult for Bayern Munich to come up with a new and improved bid in the next few days in time before the start of the Premier League season. That being said, it cannot be ruled out completely. For now, a minor victory for those who want Spurs to keep Harry Kane.
