Taylor Swift reveals how touring helps her cope amid on-off romance with Matty Healy
TAYLOR SWIFT says touring is her “coping mechanism” following a turbulent year in her love life.
The singer split from actor Joe Alwyn in April after six years and has since had an on/off relationship with Matty Healy from The 1975.
She told the crowd at one of her LA shows in her Eras Tour: “I’ve been playing shows sort of as a coping mechanism my whole life.
“I go through this process where I feel things, I write a song about that thing, I show it to you and I go, ‘Do you like it? Did you ever feel this way too?’.
“So, when you guys are at a show if you even nod your head or make eye contact with me or sing the words to a song during a show, that to me validates that emotion and makes me feel like I wasn’t alone in feeling it.”
Suki’s so Swift up on stage
SUKI WATERHOUSE rocked out in style when she wore this nude bra and lace bodysuit on stage.
The English actress and singer performed at Lollapalooza music festival in Chicago at the weekend.
Suki, who recently starred as a singer in the Amazon Prime series Daisy Jones & The Six, showed off her musical skills after she received the ultimate praise from her pal Taylor Swift
he Shake It Off singer said: “Suki has always seemed like she stepped out of a time machine. Her music is so raw and hopelessly romantic because that’s how she moves through the world.
“When we hang out, I often come away wondering how someone can be simultaneously spontaneous and free—and also preternaturally wise. She is the wildest person I know who I would also trust to keep any secret.
“You’ll be stressed about something trivial, she’ll just look at you, cigarette in hand, and say ‘Babe, you know none of this actually matters.’ And she’ll be exactly right.”
Jessie is Pixie supermum
NEW mum Jessie J has been helping Pixie Lott with preparing for the arrival of her first child with model Oliver Cheshire.
Pixie, who is due to give birth later this summer, revealed the Do It Like A Dude singer reached out after seeing that she was expecting, having had her son Sky in May.
In an exclusive chat, Pixie told me: “Jessie J is like supermum. “She looks amazing so quickly after giving birth and during her pregnancy she was still performing right until the end, so she is my inspiration.
“I really admire what she has done. She seems to have handled it like supermumma.
“Jessie reached out and we have spoken and she has said if there’s anything I need or want to talk about that she is there for me, which is lovely.” In December Pixie told me she had a new LP due out in 2023 and couldn’t wait to release her first album in nine years.
That plan has now shifted because of her pregnancy.
Pixie said: “I will keep working until I don’t feel like I can any more. I’m a very go-with-the-flow kind of person so will just take it day by day.
“The main thing now will be working out my new music plans and the schedule.
“I have finished the album but obviously won’t be able to release and promote it straight away due to the baby, so we now need to work out a plan.
“My new music is much more real and raw than anything I have done before.
“It is a very organic sound with live instruments. I have been working on it for four years. I can’t wait to perform it live.”
DUA LIPA won’t be spilling all about her personal life when she releases her third album next year.
Referring to artists such as Adele and Lady Gaga, whose songs describe their lives, Dua told the New York Times: “I think it’s a marketing tool: How confessional can you be?
“I also don’t put so much of my life out there for people to dig into the music in this weird, analytical way.”
Stormzy has got fish to fry
STORMZY had good reason to smile as he partied with rapper Tion Wayne at the GRM Gala in London on Sunday.
The Own It rapper turned 30 last week and revealed his best present was a lifetime supply of fish fingers.
He was sent a gold card by Captain Birdseye from the frozen food brand, allowing him to claim a box of the freezer staples every week for the rest of his life.
Stormzy is a big fan of the breaded tea-time staple, once tweeting: “I hate when I see fish fingers on the kids menu. Why is it for kids? They’re for everyone.”
Punters take the Bey train
BEYONCE enjoyed the calm before the storm as she posed in this black catsuit backstage ahead of her show in Washington.
The Break My Soul singer had to postpone her concert by two hours on Sunday due to downpours, thunder and lightning.
She helped fans by forking out a whopping £78,000 to keep Metro train lines in the city open after the end of her gig so punters could still get home safely.
RLY is the new band in town
THERE has been a lack of girl groups since Little Mix split up but now British five-piece RLY (Real Like You) are hoping to fill that void.
The pop band have just released their debut single Love Me Or Not, which will be followed next month by another tune, Superpower.
And they are working under the guidance of music exec Darcus Beese, who helped launch the careers of Amy Winehouse, Sugababes and Florence + The Machine.
Halle, who is in the group with Virginia, Jess, Kelli and Kyra, said of the first single: “When people listen to it, I think they will relate to that feeling of not knowing where you stand.
“As hard as it is, sometimes in life you just have to lay your feelings on the line, be brutally honest and surrender yourself to being vulnerable.”
