Kids TV legend unrecognisable with huge beard 19 years after show and sex podcasting career
A KIDS TV legend is unrecognisable 19 years after shooting to fame on Nickelodeon.
Devon Werkheiser, now 32, was just 13 when he was cast as the lead in Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide.
The show was based around characters Ned, Jennifer “Moze” Mosely [Lindsey Shaw] and Simon “Cookie” Nelson-Cook [Daniel Curtis Lee].
With the first season of the Nickelodeon show taking place as the characters negotiated seventh grade at a typical American high school, viewers saw Ned build up “tips” for his “school survival guide” which he shared with his classmates.
Almost 1m people tuned into the show’s debut episode and the series ran from 2004 until 2007.
These days Devon looks completely different compared to the fresh-faced teen who starred in Ned’s Declassified.
During a recent episode of his Growing Up with Devon podcast he showed off a slick hairstyle and huge beard while discussing the subject of sexuality, tantra, and the mind/body connection.
Earlier this year Devon, Lindsey and Daniel reunited for another podcast – Ned’s Declassified Podcast Survival Guide.
Devon previously revealed that, despite his huge fame as a teen, he was forced to get a job at a gym in his 20s.
Opening up on the cruel path of fame, he told Business Times: “I was never ridiculous with my money, but I would eat out or go on trips when I wanted to.
“I’d always be living on my savings until the next job came and refilled it, then I’d live on my savings some more.
“Over the years, supporting-role jobs started paying less in the industry, and at the same time I was booking less and less.
“The only thing I knew to do was to go get some hourly job and start working my way out of my situation. I got a 9-to-5 for the first time in my life.
“It was a real wake-up call for me… I realised I still had a lot to learn about adult life.”
Devon was the front of house at trendy US and UK luxury gym chain Equinox.
