I’m a mum-of-12 – here’s how I plan out my family’s meals without going bonkers, I’ve got a trick and it’s really simple
A BUSY mum-of-22 has revealed how she stays on track when cooking food for her entire family.
The New York-based family get through a lot of food, so it’s unsurprising that mum, Alicia, needs to carefully plan what’s being eaten and when.
She recently explained how she does in on the family’s TikTok account, @doughertydozen.
Alicia starts by creating a dinner menu for the week, but she makes sure to plan it with her kids so she knows they’ll actually want to eat everything.
The menu includes things like ribs, mashed potatoes, baked beans, corn on the cob and watermelon for Monday.
Later in the week on Thursday the bumper brood can look forward to pizza roll ups, carrots, celery and apple slices.
After planning out the daily dinners, the mum creates a more in depth plan, which includes breakfast and lunch.
To make things easier, she sticks to a theme for each day.
Mondays are the grill night, Tuesdays are for tacos, the family enjoy their ‘around the world’ theme night on a Wednesday, on Thursday they have a crockpot meal and Pizza on Friday.
Alicia plans out the weekend too, on Saturdays the family have breakfast for dinner, then pasta on Sundays.
Once she knows exactly what she’s making the mum gets to work writing the shopping list, which she organises by sections of the supermarket.
This means all the frozen items on the list are grouped together, as well as dairy, meat, toiletries, fresh produce and cupboard picks.
After sharing her method on social media other parents were inspired to be just as organised.
One said: “I wish I was this organised. Dinner in my house is when you’re hungry find something to eat.”
“This is really mum goals,” another raved.
“We’re only a family of three and I barely make it to Monday so I give your props,” someone else commented.
