BBC Breakfast’s Naga Munchetty called out by ex Strictly dance partner Pasha Kovalev in cheeky dig
BBC Breakfast host Naga Munchetty was the butt of the jokes on Saturday’s show.
The BBC One anchor, 48, was chatting to former Strictly Come Dancing professional partner Pasha Kovalev, 43, who she was paired up with back in 2016.
Pasha has teamed up with The Wanted star Siva Kaneswaran, 34, for new touring show La Bamba, celebrating the music and moves of Latin America.
Naga was discussing if Siva’s dance skills had impressed the former show star, to which Pasha quipped he would be “Strictly-ready when I’m finished.”
The BBC Breakfast anchor then interjected: “He [Pasha] is a patient teacher.”
Not missing a beat, Pasha pointedly replied: “Yes – and you would know!”
Naga became the third contestant to be voted off the BBC dance show six years ago.
Previously, Naga shrugged off speculation of a race row as she discussed her Strictly exit.
It came after she was the third person of colour to be booted from her series, prompting fans to accuse the programme of racism.
She was given the axe while popstar Anastacia lived to dance another day.
Naga and Pasha performed their Charleston to ‘Minnie The Mermaid’ by Firehouse Five Plus Two and Anastacia and Brendan performed their Rumba to ‘The Way We Were’ by Barbra Streisand in a bid to impress the judges and remain in the competition.
Back in 2016, Naga told co-host Charlie Stayt she was “gutted” to have been eliminated, but made no mention of the racism charges.
She said: “I wanted a couple more weeks.
“But the game is the game, it is what is it and I had a brilliant, brilliant time. Brilliant. Loved it.”
Naga’s elimination came a week after Tameka Empson‘s and two weeks after Melvin Odoom‘s.
