Taiwan's Foreign Minister Joseph Wu accused China of interference in the upcoming Taiwan election, after Chinese military activities around the island. China announced that it had "launched joint air and sea patrols and military exercises of the navy and air force around the island of Taiwan" on Saturday. Taiwan's military detected 42 Chinese warplanes and eight vessels making incursions around the island's air defence zone, later that day.
