TSG lose to Freiburg
The line-ups
Head coach Pellegrino Matarazzo made two changes to the team that started the 4-1 victory away to VfB Lübeck. Attila Szalai and Ihlas Bebou started in place of Kevin Vogt and Wout Weghorst, who was sidelined with a minor injury.
The scenario
Both SC Freiburg and TSG Hoffenheim reached the second round of the DFB-Pokal almost a week ago and went into the Bundesliga season with a successful result under their belts.
Moment of the match
The goal for 2-0: SC Freiburg upped the score to 2-0 through Roland Sallai. Sallai had brought down Attila Szalai in the penalty area but the whistle did not sound. Ozan Kabak initially managed to clear Vincenzo Grifo's shot, but Sallai slotted the ball into the empty net on the follow-up. Referee Sven Jablonski reviewed the incident on the video monitor but stuck with his decision (45+3). TSG could not recover from that double blow shortly before the break.
Number of the game: 9
Ozan Kabak's goal was already the ninth goal the central defender has scored in the Bundesliga. Unfortunately, it was not enough to pick up any points.
Moment of misfortune
Attila Szalai scored an own goal on his first Bundesliga appearance and was substituted off after the first half. Keep your head up, Attila!
Outlook
TSG Hoffenheim will be away to promoted club 1. FC Heidenheim next Saturday. The aim will then be to get the first win of the season.
