Maya Jama and Stormzy spotted laughing & joking backstage at music festival after Love Island host jets in to support ex
MAYA JAMA flew back from Ibiza on a private jet to support her ex Stormzy on Friday — and had an intimate moment with him, as my exclusive pictures show.
The UK rapper reunited with the Love Island host after his headline slot at All Points East festival in London’s Victoria Park.
Maya watched his stormy two-hour set front row, in the photographer’s pit, alongside pals Idris Elba and YouTuber Chunkz, before joining him backstage for an intimate afterparty with his pals, where they were treated to a personalised McDonald’s van.
An onlooker tells me: “Maya and Stormzy may not be officially dating anymore, but they are still close and grew up together.
“She is really proud of him and vice versa. They’ll always have a special bond.
“They spent time catching up and chatting, people were looking at them and giving them their space.”
Stormzy — real name Michael Omari — told the crowd onstage: “This is one of the greatest nights of my life. This is my hometown. You lot are my family.
“As long as I’m here, and as long as I have a career, I will not stop saying ‘thank you’. You lot have changed my life. You’ve changed my family’s life.”
Supported by fellow London rapper Nucks, Sampha, US star Kehlani and Ms Banks, the star added: “For the next 10, 20, 40 years I want you all to have the memory of singing, dancing in the rain and having a good time.”
Of his album, This is What I Mean, he said: ‘This album reflects a very specific time in my life. The word that comes to mind is ‘stillness’. It was a beautiful thing to look in the mirror and say, “That’s you and that’s how you truly feel.”
Maya, who has just graced the cover of Vogue mag, said of their four year romance: “None of us really knew the level of importance it held to a certain group of people, us being together.
“We were both super ambitious. We were both from similar upbringings and we were both just little grafters that have made something good of ourselves. It was lovely when it was lovely, and then you move.”
It sounds like the perfect storm . . .
