Summer Sendoff Weekend Incoming
The Rehoboth Beach Classic is done, Summer of Freedom has been won, and fall Sassy 7s teams are formed… Summer’s wrapping up, and we’re setting up for it to go out with a bang! FTSC has four events lined up between Friday, August 25th and Saturday, August 26th that we’d love to see you join us at!
Friday Night Lights returns at 7pm on Friday the 25th with this month’s pick-up event at Brentwood-Hamilton Field in Northeast DC by Union Market. As usual, remember to bring your cleats, shin guards, light+dark shirts, and (if you haven’t paid dues yet this year) a $5 requested donation to help cover field costs. We’ll hit up a nearby bar after, of course!
Women In Soccer are joining forces with the Washington Spirit to host a pick-up event on the grass outside Audi Field at 9am on Saturday the 26th. There will also be networking to support professionals with underrepresented identities in soccer and other related fields. RSVP here!
Kicking Out Transphobia, a tournament series founded by our LGBTQ+ siblings from the Philadelphia Falcons, comes to DC for the first time at 12pm on Saturday the 26th. KOT’s goal is to raise awareness and create safe spaces for everyone on the soccer field. Registration cost just $15 and is open to all identities – plus, if you don’t want to play, you can still sponsor players and get the event T-shirt! The 4v4 tournament will take place in the Kick Zone of Audi Field.
United Night Out caps off the weekend as DC United hosts the Philadelphia Union at 7:30pm. Tickets bought through FTSC and Team DC cost $30 with proceeds coming back to both organizations. As usual, tickets will also include a Pride giveaway item, and everyone will head out to Dacha Navy Yard for post-game drinks and socializing! Pregame tailgating with the Screaming Eagles and Sons of Ben will begin right after KOT ends and go until Audi Field’s gates open back up at 6:30pm.
