Alison Hammond reveals she’s ready to get married after years of being terrified to tie the knot
ALISON Hammond has revealed she’s ready to get married after years of being terrified to tie the knot.
Presenter Alison, 48, was once engaged to cab driver Noureddine Boufaied, who she shares her 18-year-old son Aiden with, but admitted she “wasn’t ready for marriage at the time”.
More recently, the single star split with landscape gardener Ben Hawkins – after being an item for two years.
The bubbly Brummie confessed she’s “always been scared” of commitment, but is now prepared to change that if Mr Right comes along.
She told Gyles Brandreth on his upcoming Rosebud podcast, “I think that’s why I struggle in relationships, because I don’t want somebody around me all the time.
“I absolutely love being on my own. I’m OK with it. I’ve never felt lonely.
“I think as soon as I hear the word marriage I get cold feet. I think I’m just one of those people.
“I always – not think there’s something better – but I always get a bit nervous to know that is it.
“I just feel like I’m tied down and I don’t like it, when really and truly, I’m getting to that age now where I think, ‘Alison, let go – it’s OK to settle down.'”
The former Big Brother housemate sparked rumours in March that she’d split from her partner.
The star was discussing Love Island spin-off show Romance Retreat with co-star Dermot O’Leary on This Morning when she declared: “I’m single.”
Appearing to confirm she had split from partner Ben, she said: “More people are wanting to meet people out and about and having a green ring might be a good idea so that people know you’re single.
“As you can see, I’ve got my single ring on.”
