Woman charged with allegedly dragging 61-year-old with car, running her over after fight in CT
A woman has been charged with assault after allegedly dragging a 61-year-old woman with her car and running her over after a group of people got into a fight in Torrington on Sunday afternoon, police said.
Officers responded to reports of a large group of people fighting near on Turner Avenue about 1:20 p.m. and found the 61-year-old lying in the road with serious injuries, according to the Torrington Police Department.
Investigators learned that victim had gotten into an argument with Ciara Egeter, who allegedly assaulted her, her daughter and a 68-year-old woman after Egeter was told to slow down while speeding, police said.
Egeter then got into her vehicle while the victim was holding onto the passenger side door and drove off, dragging her with the vehicle and running her over with the vehicle’s rear tire in the process, police said.
The victim sustained serious injuries and was taken to Saint Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, where her condition was stabilized, police said.
Egeter was taken into custody and charged with second-degree breach of peace, second-degree assault, possession of drug paraphernalia, three counts of risk of injury, third-degree assault, two counts of third-degree assault of an elderly person and reckless driving, police said.
She is currently being held on a $500,000 surety bond and is scheduled to appear in court in Torrington on Sept. 5, police said.
