Lottie Moss left emotional as she opens up on strained relationship with supermodel sister Kate Moss on Celebs Go Dating
LOTTIE Moss appeared emotional as she opened up on feeling “abandoned” by supermodel sister Kate Moss.
Lottie is the half-sister of Kate, and she’s been determined to show the show the “real Lottie” in her first TV gig on E4 show Celebs Go Dating.
And model Lottie got candid while talking to new sex guru Dr Tara Suwinyattichaipor and discussed her “strained” relationship with Kate, 49.
Lottie, 25, explained: “I kind of know where this problem stems from. I’ve felt quite abandoned by my sister and we’ve not had a very good relationship for quite a few years.”
Lottie continued to say she’s “constantly compared” to her supermodel sister Kate.
She added: “Every person’s house I go to they have some sort of Kate Moss poster, Kate Moss book, Kate Moss Diet Coke can, and everyone brings her up.
“I’ve felt for a very long time that nothing I did was ever going to be as good as what she’s done.
“I can’t top that, so where does that leave me?”
Lottie is so used to people forming incorrect opinions about her that she no longer lets things like being called a “nepo baby” bother her.
She shares the same father as Kate [Pete Moss] and was propelled into modelling after, aged 13, she was a bridesmaid for the supermodel when she tied the knot with now-ex-husband Jamie Hince in 2011.
The wedding pictures were published in Vogue and at 16 she officially signed to a top model agency.
She went on to shoot campaigns for Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger and Dolce And Gabbana, with models like Gigi Hadid.
But she struggled with being “Kate Moss’ sister”, particularly when the 24-year age gap meant Kate wasn’t really around when Lottie was growing up.
Lottie previously hit back at criticisms over being a “nepo baby” on Twitter, posting: “I’m so sick of people blaming nepotism for why they aren’t rich and famous or successful — obviously it’s not fair that people who come from famous families are getting a leg up because of that, but guess what? Life isn’t fair — if you put your mind to something you can accomplish.
“And [I] am privileged for numerous other reasons and, as I say, I am grateful for it all but s**tting on others because of it makes NO sense.
“Obviously I’m privileged being related to a huge model. I obviously am so grateful that I have had the opportunities I’ve had, don’t get it twisted.”
Lottie and her famous big sister aren’t the best buddies everyone assumes they must be.
“Me and my sister have never been close. There is a big age gap. I didn’t grow up with my sister giving us money.
“We had a tiny two-bedroom house. My parents were bankrupt. I paid for my private school myself with the money I made modelling.”
Lottie is clear, though, that she holds no resentment over this fact.
“My sister has obviously struggled with things herself. She’s allowed to have that.
“She doesn’t have to want to have a relationship with me. When I was younger, I couldn’t understand it. I thought: ‘Why is someone in my family not wanting a relationship with me? I don’t get it.’
“But now I’ve learned, especially speaking to other friends who don’t speak to their mum or dad, that family is complicated.
“Just because she’s a really high-end model, it doesn’t mean that it’s any different in our family. We just don’t see eye to eye on many things. I love her. She’s my sister, but we’re just not close. It is what it is.”
