Conservative Party rank and file have been betrayed by broken promises, says Tim Newark

A recent poll reveals that many core issues you'd have thought were dead certs for the Conservative party have now become areas where Labour is more trusted. On taxation - long the preserve of the Tories - Labour now has a lead of 27 percent to 19 percent.
