Nineties music legend signs up for surprising appearance on hit Sky show
BRASSIC has signed up a music icon for the next series – but you might struggle to recognise him.
My exclusive snaps show The Stone Roses‘ legend Mani looks a little different from his Madchester heyday as he makes a cameo in the Sky comedy, playing himself.
The madcap plotline sees Tommo and Vinnie rock up at Nani’s house to try and surprise their pals.
But truth is stranger than fiction, as the story behind the Primal Scream star’s appearance is even more surprising.
Vinnie actor Joe Gilgun said: “So Danny Brocklehurst, who writes Brassic, takes his kids to footy and Mani takes his kids to the same place and they hang out a bit.
“He watches the show so Danny was like, ‘do you want to be in it?’
“So the next thing you know, he’s in it and it’s f*cking brilliant! I love this about Brassic, that random people you might not expect want to be in it.”
Other guest stars this series, which begins on September 28 on Sky Max, will include Lee Mack and Call My Agent star Camille Cottin.
I revealed last week that the show, which is up for Best Comedy at this year’s NTAs, will screen its first Christmas special this year.
The fifth series of the Sky Drama will air next month ahead of the first ever Yuletide episode.
A source said: “It feels like a long time coming but everyone is thrilled Brassic is getting a Christmas special after four years on the box.
“It’s going to be a foul-mouthed, festive knees-up Brassic style – forget your fairytale, it’ll be more akin to Billy Bob Thonrton’s Bad Santa and The Grinch than your schmaltzy It’s A Wonderful Life.
“The special episode is being filmed next month around Manchester and in Lancashire and the cast are super-excited to show what a Christmas in Hawley looks like for the gang of criminal misfits.
“There will be some surprises in the mix too, including a big name one-off casting.”
