Woman ‘sexually assaulted as she walked through subway’ as cops arrest man
A WOMAN has reportedly been sexually assaulted as she walked through a subway – with cops arresting a man.
The 29-year-old man remains in custody after the woman was assaulted in the College Road subway in Rotherham, South Yorkshire at 11.30pm yesterday.
He was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault a short time after the alleged attack.
Cops are now appealing for witnesses to come forward – including a man who “intervened” to help the victim and two women who spoke to the suspect before the reported assault.
Detective Sergeant Janine Broughton, investigating, said: “We are particularly keen to speak to a man who intervened to help the victim, causing the suspect the flee the scene.
“We also would like to speak to two women who may have spoken to the suspect shortly before the incident.”
