Celebrity MasterChef champion Wynne Evans reveals bizarre way he celebrated his win
CELEBRITY MasterChef champ Wynne Evans celebrated his win by having his bunions removed.
The Welsh tenor — singing star of the Go Compare insurance ads — has struggled with the bony bumps on his toes.
They can be removed by shaving the bone and Wynne, 51, booked in for the £5,000-a-foot treatment soon after MasterChef finished filming earlier this year.
He said: “When you have bunions you can still function. I just had to get them done because I wanted to continue my health kick.
“I feel great now. I’m back running again.”
A bunion is a bump that forms on the joint at the base of the big toe, and can be painful.
Surgery to remove the bunion by shaving the bone and straightening the toe bone is an option, and can be done as keyhole surgery.
Wynne has lost 6½ stone in nine months by focussing on calorie counting and is now 16st.
After beating Love Island’s Luca Bish and Emmerdale’s Amy Walsh in the grand final, aired on Friday, he said: “I’d love to do Strictly next, it’s one of my big ambitions. I’m always looking for exciting opportunities.
“You’ve seen me in those adverts, I’ll do anything for money!”
But divorced dad-of-two Wynne is not going to use his culinary skills to woo a new partner, adding: “I’ll be cooking just for the kids at the moment.”
