Gemma Atkinson fans all have same complaint as she poses in cropped t-shirt to exercise just two months after birth
GEMMA Atkinson’s fans all had same complaint as she posed in a cropped T-shirt to exercise, just two months after giving birth.
Actress Gemma, 38, welcomed her second child Thiago with Strictly‘s Gorka Marquez, 32, in June, ensuring to document her parenting life with fans.
But following her latest Instagram post, which saw her hitting her home gym for all to see, her followers couldn’t help agreeing with each other on one point.
One wrote, “You look better at 8 weeks pp than I do at 8 years. But you are also the motivation (and inspiration) I needed to get back in the game.
“Had my first 1:1 Thai boxing coaching session on Friday and wow am I feeling it today, struggled to put my bra on. Looking forward to watching your progress over the next 12 weeks.”
Another added, “You’re amazing and so lucky to have a gym on your doorstep. I hate the gym bc I don’t know what I’m doing so I don’t go bc I feel intimidated. If I had the space at home I would.”
Someone else agreed, “You look incredible! Here’s wishing I was too after having a partial knee replacement post surgery fourteen weeks ago and I’m still not back at work yet and that’s with being off work for nearly seven months!!”
Gemma explained in her caption that she’s trying the Hatch Athletic Postpartum Plan, despite having to bring her four-year-old daughter Ella with her, and the family dog.
The routine consists of CrossFit, HIIT, functional fitness and weightlifting, which the TV personality performed in the videos.
She added, “My second pregnancy & 2nd C section have taken its toll on me physically, but mentally I’m feeling fantastic and strong and motivated!”
Gemma, who gave birth via C-section, explained, “I had a 6cm (now 5cm) gap from diastasis recti and you can see my tummy is slightly coning in certain movements meaning I need to really focus on engagement on my abdominals during the exercise.
“I had no issues with this after Mia, but this time my tummy feels weaker. Again though, it’s expected so I’m going with it. I have one more gym sesh this week, 3 cardio days which will be my stairmaster or bike and a rest day.
“It’ll be harder to juggle with two children, school runs, dog walks & Thiago BUT harder doesn’t mean it’s impossible.
“I take inspiration from all the mums juggling work, kids, schools etc… and I always remind myself, some people have 3 kids and 3 dogs so that would be harder. I love a challenge though, especially against myself so bring it on!”
Gemma recently told how she almost died giving birth, after losing pints of blood during her first birth.
She confessed her Strictly fiance broke down in tears as doctors battled to save her life.
It happened in 2019 when Gemma was forced to have an emergency Ceasarean when her unborn daughter Mia’s heart rate dropped suddenly.
She opened up about the traumatic experience after memories were brought up during the birth of Thiago last month.
“My first birth was a traumatic one,” Gemma told MailOnline.
“They gave me a form about blood transfusions that asked if one of us had to be saved, which one would it be.
“It could have gone very differently. Immediately afterwards you think to yourself, ‘Gosh, would I go through that again?’ Then you look at your child and think, ‘I’d do it all again tomorrow.’ That’s the nature of motherhood.”
