India, as the G20 presidency, has formed a working group on women empowerment to address the issue of low female labor force participation. Richard Samans, the G20 Sherpa of the International Labour Organization, suggests that multilateral institutions should assist India in providing decent work and social protection to its workers. He also emphasizes the importance of implementing core labor standards and engaging with trading partners constructively. Samans believes that increased women's participation in the workforce can be achieved through better childcare support, education, and corporate governance. Additionally, he acknowledges the challenge of ensuring safety and social security for India's large informal sector workforce.
