At least three people killed and three hurt as train ploughs into group crossing the tracks near music festival in Spain
AT least three people have been killed and three others seriously injured after being hit by a train near Barcelona.
The victims are believed to have been in a group of seven people who were crossing the tracks outside of an authorised area.
Well-placed sources quoted in Spanish media are putting the number of dead at between three and four and saying the three people injured are “very serious” and fighting for their lives.
The tragedy happened just before 8.30pm between the stations of Parets del Valles and Granollers on a stretch of a railway line known as the R3 line.
Train services along part of the line have been suspended for the time being.
A local Civil Protection spokesman said: “Circulation of trains suspended because of a multiple collision.
“There are no trains running between Parets and Granollers.”
Unconfirmed local reports said the group hit by the train were on their way to a music festival close to the scene of the accident.
