I’m a realtor – my Amazon design swap is one of the easiest, cheapest things you can do, it updates your entire house
HOPING to update her home, a realtor turned to Amazon for cheap yet elegant fixes that don’t take much time to install.
She said it’s important to not skip out on one product if you want the full effect.
North Carolina-based realtor Emily McAllister (@realtoremilymcallister) revealed how to give your home an instant refresh.
“Okay I’m going to show you literally one of the easiest and least expensive things you can do to update your entire house,” she began in the clip.
The best part is you don’t even need a handyman to get it done.
“If you cannot do this, I can’t help you because it’s just that simple.”
You’ll need to buy two new things: doorknobs and hinges.
“I see people switch the knobs all the time but they forget about the hinges, and you’re just missing the full effect.
“You need to do the hinges as well.”
Shiny and round gold or silver door accessories, Emily suggested, will make your space look dated.
She opted for sleek, matte black ones instead.
“I got all of my doorknobs and hinges off of Amazon.
“I would highly recommend going through there instead of Lowe’s or Home Depot, because Lowe’s or Home Depot is going to be really expensive.”
Emily revealed she updated her entire house for $280.
“Literally all you do is switch out the knobs and the hinges and that’s it. It makes a world of a difference.
“It’s super simple, virtually mess-free, and can be done in a couple of hours.
“It honestly has no business making that big of a difference.”
Viewers agreed with her DIY, and some offered additional advice.
“I did mine about a year ago and it’s a big bang for the money and time invested,” one person wrote.
“I was thinking about doing this and now you convinced me. The black looks so much better,” noted another.
“We did that, plus all receptacles and outlet covers. They were off white, and the new white looked so much better,” a third added, with Emily agreeing: “Yes! This is another big one!”
