LA City Council blocks plan to demolish Marilyn Monroe's house

LOS ANGELES, California: The Los Angeles (LA) City Council voted on September 8 to begin designating the home where actress Marilyn Monroe died of a drug overdose in 1962 as a historical and cultural monument, therefore blocking plans to demolish the property.

Councilwoman Traci Park introduced the motion to initiate consideration of the Spanish Colonial-style house in Brentwood, LA, for historic preservation.
