BBC Breakfast blasted as ‘waste of the licence fee’ as viewers rip into ‘shameful’ Jon and Sally debate
BBC Breakfast has been slammed for being a “waste of the licence fee” as viewers ripped into Jon Kay and Sally Nugent’s “shameful debate on the show this morning.
The news programme may have ruffled some feathers this morning.
Jon and Sally were back on the famous red sofa, debating how to make the perfect brew.
Jon asked Sally: “Have you seen this story in the paper about how to make the perfect cup of tea?”
Sally enthusiastically responded: “Oh go on then! You know it’s my favourite thing.
Jon then read out the article about a teabag that’s been created that has “full strength” in a “limited amount of time”.
Sally then quipped: “And you know the one golden rule, Jon Kay, never squeeze the bag.”
However, it appears that this topic was not everyone’s cup of tea, as viewers were dissatisfied with the debate and took to X to complain, with many calling it a “waste of the licence fee.”
One wrote: “Another slow news day eh? Can someone please do something reprehensible so these people have something to report on!?”
A second penned: “Slow News Day? Ran out of Charity Runs or School Football to report on?”
A third added: “Pensions at risk, Little kids being attacked by dangerous dogs, sexual harassment in hospitals. And your talking about making tea ? As long as your not wasting my licence fee.”
A fourth wrote: “Rubbish like this is ok on BBC 1 but not the news channel. Please can we not have to suffer this daily and have your news channel on 24/7 even if it does mean the likes of Gary Lineker Clare Balding and Jermaine Jenas having to take a pay cut.
BBC Breakfast airs every day at 6 am on BBC One
