Four-star wing Jaiden Glover commits to St. John’s
By ADAM ZAGORIA
Jaiden Glover, the the 6-foot-6, 195-pound four-star wing from The Patrick School (N.J.) and the Riverside Hawks, announced his commitment to Rick Pitino and St. John’s on Tuesday night following an official visit last week.
“I really like them, I like how they play,” he told ZAGSBLOG earlier this summer. “I want to see what the culture is like with Rick Pitino. They like how I play, they like how I shoot, they like how I score the ball.”
Glover mentioned Pitino was the biggest factor in his decision to play for St. John’s.
“His [Pitino’s] practices and individual workout were a really big thing for me,” Glover said during his commitment. “His resume – deep runs in the NCAA Tournament, coached for the Knicks, coached for multiple NBA teams, and those are the main things for me.”
Glover chose the Red Storm over Creighton, Seton Hall and St. Joe’s, which he also visited last week.
Under previous coaches, St. John’s has barely recruited New Jersey in recent years, but Pitino landed five-star Roselle Catholic guard Simeon Wilcher after he decommitted from North Carolina.
Now the Johnnies have added back-to-back stars from the Garden State.
Karriem Memminger of the Riverside Hawks told ZAGSBLOG Glover will provide an instant impact.
“He’s a big, big scoring guard,” he said. “He can hit the mid-range and the three-ball off the dribble. He can catch and shoot. He also plays [good] defense. He has an unbelievably huge upside.”
St. John’s remains in the mix for Class of 2024 7-footer Khaman Maker of Trinity International Schools in Las Vegas who also visited last week. They also have a pledge from Greek shooting guard Lefteris Liotopoulos.
