NATIONAL SUMMARY
Drenching showers and locally severe thunderstorms will
extend along an advancing cool front from Maine to Georgia
and Alabama today. The potential for flash flooding will
exist anywhere along the front, while the greatest risk of a
few tornadoes will be across southern New England. Drenching
storms will stretch farther west along the front as it
stalls near the central Gulf Coast, Texas and eastern New
Mexico. Cool air with low humidity, typical of
mid-September, will sprawl across much of the Central states
to the north and west of the front. Showers and
thunderstorms will occur in the interior West as some
moisture seeps to the north from Mexico and the Gulf.
Localized flash flooding cannot be ruled out. Hurricane Lee
